How to Make a Valentines Pencil Topper using Cricut
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner so I decided to show you how to make Valentine’s pencil toppers using Cricut. This project comes with a free SVG file that you can download in Cricut Design Space and cut oil your Cricut. This is a simple cut project but because this was designed in Illustrator there are some tweaks that we have to go through in Design Space to make it perfect. Just follow these step-by-step instructions and your pencil toppers will be finished in a flash. I you want more free SVG’s head over to my page of free SVG’s.
What you will Need: How to Make a Valentine’s Pencil Topper using Cricut
- SVG you can get by clicking on this link
- Cricut Design Space
- Cricut machine
- Scoring Blade
- Fine Point Blade
- Card stock
- Pencils
Step 1: Download the SVG
Click on the link and unzip the file. Download it by clicking download and save it to your computer. I am not showing it here because I have a MAC and it is different for me than it probably is for you.
Step 2: Upload the SVG to Design Space
To upload the file go to design space and click upload on the left menu. When you are on the upload page click upload image. Then click browse to browse your computer for the image you just saved. Click on the Valentines Pencil Topper and it will upload into your stuff. click to highlight the image and click add to canvas.
Step 3: Change the Straight Lines to Score
There are three straight lines on the design that are fold lines. Double click on these lines one at a time and go two the operation dropdown menu and click score. The lines will change to dotted lines indicating the they are score lines.
Step 4: Attach the Design
Highlight the whole design and go to the bottom right menu and click attach.
Step 5: Make It
Hit make it. you will be instructed to add the scoring blade to your machine. The machine will score the three lines before instructing you to insert the fine point blade. Insert the fine point blade and finish cutting out the project.
Step 6: Fold the Heart Pencil Topper
Fold the score lines to make it easier to insert your pencil
Step 7: Insert your pencil into your Pencil Topper
Insert the pencil from the top in and out of the five holes and you have finished your Valentines Pencil Topper.
