How to Make a Thanksgiving Gatefold Invitation
I just love these gatefold invitations. They are so pretty. I decided to make a Thanksgiving gatefold invitation for everyone to use. I used an autumn leaves theme to make this perfect for the thanksgiving season. There is an insert to write whatever you like on your invitation using a Cricut pen. The SVG for this project is free as are all of the SVGs on Paper Daisy. If you would like more paper crafting projects head over to my paper crafting page for more.

What you will Need: How to Make a Thanksgiving Gatefold Card
- SVG you can get by clicking on this link
- Cricut or other cutting machine
- Medium weight Cardstock — I use 12 x 12 Cardstock shop products
- Craft Glue — I use Bearly Art (Optional)
- Double sided tape
- Ribbon or cording
Step 1: Download the SVG
Download and unzip the file. The file contains a variety of different cutting types. I use the SVG for my Cricut. There is a Thanksgiving gatefold invitation, a card insert and an envelope.
Step 2: Upload the SVG
Upload the SVG to Cricut Design Space by clicking on the upload button in the left menu bar. You will upload the invitation and the envelope.
Step 3: Convert the Cut Lines to Score
There are four lines where the envelope needs to be folded. Highlight them in the layers panel and go to the operations menu and convert them from cut lines to score lines. Highlight the lines and the entire envelope and click attach on the lower right of the layers panel.
Step 4: Write out Your Invitation
Go to the invitation and the insert. Click ungroup at the top of the layers panel and move the gatefold out of the way. Using the text tool on the left menu bar write your invitation. Choose the font and size that you want. Type the message and change the text from cut to pen using the operations menu. Highlight the card insert and the text and click attach.
Step 4: Make It
Click Make It in the top right of Design Space. Choose On Mat. load the blue mat with the envelope cardstock first and attach the scoring blade or the scoring stylus. The scoring lines will go first. Follow the instructions in Design Space to cut out the envelope and write and cut out the card insert.
Step 5: Cut out the Gatefold Invitation
You will want to change the settings for this part of the cut. I chose cardstock for integrate cuts and more pressure to cut out the gatefold invitation.
Step 6: Remove the Invitation
Pull the mat away from the invitation to avoid curling. Take care when removing the invitations as there are a lot of small cuts. There may be some residual cardstock remaining just poke them out with a Cricut weeding tool.
Step 7: Glue the Insert (Optional)
Using your craft glue, glue the insert to the gatefold invitation. If you do not want an insert you can simply put the text onto the center of the Gatefold invitation. Just make sure you click attach to attach the text to the invitation. I chose not to glue my insert.
Step 8: Add the Cording or Ribbon
Add the insert if you have not glued it. Fold the sides of the gatefold invitation to the center. Cut a piece of ribbon or cording and tie the invitation closed.
Step 9: Create the Envelope
Fold the envelope along the score lines and glue the sides or use double sided tape to close them. Insert the invitation and send to the recipient.
