How to Make a Milk Carton Gift Box
Gift Boxes are always fun to make because you can totally personalize them in Design Space. For this Milk Carton gift box I decided to make it in a Valentine’s theme since Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. There is a free SVG that goes with this project to make I really simple to make. Just follow this simple tutorial for all of the instructions on how to put this milk carton together. Depending n what you are going to put into your gift box you can make it out of Kraft Board or Cardstock. I used cardstock for this project that I purchased at 12 x 12 cardstock shop. What you will Need: How to Make a Milk Carton Gift Box
- SVG you can get by clicking on this link
- 2 pieces of 12 x 12 cardstock or Kraft board.
- Small Piece of cardstock for outside of heart
- Craft Glue — I use Bearly Art
- Piece of Acetate
- Scoring wheel or stylus
- Ribbon
Step 1: Download and Upload the SVG
The first thing you need to do is download the SVG to your computer and then upload it to Desgn Space. If you are not familiar with how to do this check out this video.
I recommend using craft board for this project and covering the craft board with the cardstock or paper of your choice. It will be much stronger to hold your gift.
Step 2: Change the Lines to Score Lines
First, ungroup everything by going to the top of the layers panel and clicking ungroup. If the lines do not line up move them so that they do. Go to the layers panel and highlight the carton lines except the bottom vertical line. Go to the top operations menu and choose score. Once you have changed all of the lines to score attach them by highlighting the lines and the carton and going to the bottom of the layers panel and choosing attach. The bottom vertical line should be a cut line.
Step 3: Make It
Go to the top right of Design Space and click Make It. Cut out the two main carton pieces, the acetate heart and the heart surround using your Cricut.
Step 4: Add the Acetate
Take the acetate heart and glue it to the wrong side of the carton to cover the hole you created when you cut out the carton.
Step 5: Fold the Score Lines
First fold all of the score lines to the wrong side of the carton. Then, fold the triangle score lines to the right side of the carton.
Step 6: Add the Outer Heart
Glue the outer heart to the front of the carton so that it surrounds the heart with the acetate piece.
Step 7: Glue the Carton Together
First, Glue the two pieces together at the sides Making sure that the triangle pieces are not next to each other. Then, glue the other sides together by folding down the flap and gluing the pieces together. Finally, glue the bottom flaps to create the bottom of the carton. Start with the side opposite the side with the heart.
Step 8: Fill and Add the Ribbon
Fill the box and fold over the top. String the ribbon through the holes in the top and tie in a bow. You have now finished your Milk Carton Gift Box.
