What you will Need: Hw to Make a Graduation Cap Gift Box using Cricut

Step 1: Download the SVG

Head over to Creative Fabrica and purchase the SVG.

Step 2: Upload the SVG

Upload the SVG to Cricut Design Space by using the upload button on the left side of the Design Space Canvas. Follow the instructions to upload the SVG an place it on the Canvas. I created the small box with solid lines for my project.

Step 3: Convert the Solid Lines to Score lines

Highlight all of the pieces and click unwrap in the top right layers panel. Highlight the solid lines. Go to the operations menu on the top menu bar and select score then select attach at the bottom right layers panel. Select the tassel piece and click attach. Select all of the pieces and click group. Highlight all of the pieces and resize them so that they are 11″ wide.

Step 4: Make It

Go to the top right corner of Design Space and click Make It. Then click On Mat.

Step 5: Cut the Pieces

Using the blue mat place a piece of solid core card-stock in the color you want your cap to be on the mat and use a brayer to make sure that it is firmly adhered. Lineup the mat and click the feed button. once it has fed through the machine click cut on your machine. Once the pieces are cut, remove them gently from the mat pulling the mat up first. Repeat this same process for the tassel piece but use paper instead of card stock.

Step 6: Create the Box

Fold along all of the score lines on the larger of the two long pieces. Apply glue to the side tab and attach it to the other end so you have created the hexagon. Glue the other tabs on the inside of the bottom hexagon piece. Then, glue the individual hexagon into the bottom of the box to cover the tabs.

Step 7: Create the Lid

Glue the side tab to the other end in the same way you did the base. Then, glue the remaining tabs on the outside of the lid.

Step 8: Create the Tassel

Using your Cricut tweezers roll the tassel piece tightly until you get close to the end. Once you reach the end glue the long rectangle piece inside the tassel. Glue the ends together.

Step 9: Add the Tassel

Place the end of the long rectangle piece that you attached to the tassel through the hole in the square mortar board piece. Glue to the underside of the square piece. Place the small circle on top of the hole and the tassel on top of the square.

Step 10: Add the Square Piece

Add glue to the top of the lid. Place the square piece in the center of the lid. You have now finished your Graduation Cap Gift Box.
