How to Make a Five Layered Mandala
I love these layered mandalas. I designed this one to have five layers so it would be nice and colorful with a lot of dimension. This tutorial will show you how to make this five layered mandala and how to put it together. There is a free SVG that goes along with this project. What you will Need: How to Make a Five Layered Mandala
- Free Mandala SVG
- Cricut Machine or other cutting machine
- Five different colors of solid core card stock
- Cricut Scraper Tool
- Adhesive foam strips
- Ruler and rotary cutter and mat or scissors
Step 1: Download the SVG
Click on the link and upload the free SVG to your computer.
Step 2: Upload the SVG
Upload the SVG to Design Space by clicking on the upload button on the left menu bar. Select Upload image from the upload screen. Click browse then find the SVG on your computer. Click on the file and once it is in Design Space click upload on the bottom right. Once it is own the upload page select it and click add to canvas on the bottom right. Once it is on the Design Space canvas you will see the five layers.
Step 3: Change the Colors and Resize (Optional)
Now is the time to resize the mandala and change he colors of the the layers if you want. Just select the layer on the right layers panel and the color will come up in the top menu bar. Just click on the color box to change the color to whatever you would like. To resize the mandala just select all o the layers and click on the bottom right corner and pull it bigger or smaller. I would not recommend that you make it smaller as there are already small cuts in the design.
Step 4: Make It
Click Make it in the top right corner of Design Space. Follow the instructions in Design Space to cut out the layers. Choose on mat and 80 lb card stock as the material. As the layers cut. Lift them off gently, especially the top layer as it is delicate. Use the scraper tool to remove al of the excess pieces.
Step 5: Put it Together
Start putting the foam strips on the top layer first. You will need to use a rotary cutter and mat or scissors to cut the strips into a size to fit the thin lines of some of the layers. Place the strips onto the top layer then to each of the following layers as you stick them together. Once all of the layers are together you are finished. Free it in a nice shadow box if you like.
