How to Make a Permanent Vinyl Welcome Plaque using Cricut

Welcome your guests with this adorable permanent vinyl and wood welcome plaque using Cricut. This project comes with a free SVG to make it super simple to make. Just purchase a wooden plaque to mount your vinyl on and as an option purchase some Cricut balsa wood to give your plaque some dimension. I used both wood and vinyl for my project but you could use just vinyl on your wooden plaque f you choose. If you would like more vinyl projects check out my vinyl page here.

Step 3: Make It

You will notice the the welcome part of the sign comes out black in Design Space. You can cut it black or one of the other colors by clicking on color sync in the layers panel. Color Sync allows you to arrange the colors anyway you like and to consolidate material.

Step 4: Cut the Black Pieces First

There are four colors of permanent vinyl to cut. I find it easier to cut and weed the pieces in the order I am going to place them on my plaque and to place seem as I go. In this case, start with the black pieces first since they will be the first ones on your plaque. Place the black vinyl onto the green standard grip mat so that the shiny side is facing up. Press cut on your machine.

Step 5: Weed and Place the Black Pieces

Once you have cut out the black pieces remove the negative pieces that you will not need. Remove he liner from the transfer tape. Place the transfer tape adhesive side down onto the semicircle with the holes. Burnish the transfer tape onto the vinyl starting in the center and moving toward the edges. Find the center if the plaque and draw a very light line down the center for reference. Lift the vinyl from the backing using the transfer tape and place it on the line you drew in the center of the plaqueBurnish the transfer tape and he vinyl not the plaque. Let the transfer tape leaving he vinyl behind.

Step 6: Place the Welcome

Once again, find the center of the plaque above the semicircle that you just placed and make a light mark for reference. You will want to place the center of the word in the center of the plaque at the top. Start by placing the W in the same way that you weeded and placed the semicircle. Then place the rest of the letters.

Add the letters

Step 7: Cut and Place the Light Pink Flower and Stripe

Cut out the light pink flower and stripe. Cut the ends with a craft knife and place it at the top of the black semicircle in the same way. ( For some reason I was not able to add them to the cut.)

Add the first flower

Step 8: Cut and Place the Dark Pink Flower

Cut and place the dark pink flower on top of the light pink flower rotating it slightly so that the petals alternate.

Add the second flower

Step 9: Add the Flower Center and Hanger

Cut out the flower center from the white vinyl. Place it in the center of the flower in the same way. Staple some twine to the back if you don’t already have a hanger to hang your plaque. Once you have placed the hanger on you have finished your permanent vinyl welcome plaque using Cricut.

Add the hanger
