How to Make a Spiderweb Halloween Lantern using Cricut
With Halloween fast approaching I decided to create this creepy spider web halloween lantern using Cricut. This is a fairly simple Cricut paper crafting project with a free SVG in two sizes. What you will Need: How to Make a Spider web Halloween Lantern using Cricut
- Cut file you can get by clicking on this link
- Black Cardstock
- Velum cardstock
- Cricut or other cutting machine
- Scoring Blade or scoring stylus
- Art glue or double sided tape
- Invisible tape
- Electric votive
Step 1: Download the Cut File
Download the cut file to your computer by clicking on the link
Step 2: Upload the SVG to Cricut Design Space
Decide which size lantern you would like to make and upload the SVG file to design Space by clicking on the upload button on the left side menu and following the prompts. Once uploaded add the design to design space.
Step 3: Modify the SVG
Highlight the three lines on the side of the layers panel and go to the operations panel and change them to score lines. Then click attach at the bottom right of the layers panel. In the small lantern there is a diagonal line that I am not sure where it came from. Just click the eye on the layers panel t make it invisible.
Step 4: Make It
Choose Make It in the top right of Design Space. Choose On Mat. When it comes to choosing materials choose cardstock for integrate cuts then choose more pressure. These are important to get a nice finished project. Click continue.
Step 5: Load the Black Cardstock
Place the black cardstock on a light blue mat. Load the mat into the machine. Install the scoring wheel or stylus into your machine. The scoring lines will be added first. Then push go. Follow the prompts to add the cutting blade and to cut out the project.
Step 7: Upload the Panels SVG to Cricut Design Space
Upload the appropriate panels SVG to your project in the same way you did for the lantern.
Step 8: Cut out the Velum
Cut out the velum rectangles using the fine point blade and using the blue mat.
Step 9: Add the Velum Panels to the Lantern
Using either craft glue or double sided tape add the panels to the inside of the lantern.
Step 10: Fold the Lantern
Fold the lantern using the score lines into a cube shape. Use a piece of clear tape to hold the final two sides together. Add the votive.
