Step 1: Prepare the Bowls
Swirl around some minwax polycrilic in each of the two bowls. Add the green glitter to the bowls making sure that the glitter covers the inside of each bowl. I prefer the polycrilic for this as Mod Podge can clump.
Step 2: Download and Upload the free SVG by clicking on this link
If you do not know how to download and upload an SVG for the library check out the video below for step-by-step instructions.
Step 3: Prepare the SVG
Highlight the entire SVG and click ungroup. Highlight just the eyes and click group and then attach. Next, highlight the face and click group then attach.
Step 4: Resize the SVG
Using Cricut Design Space resize the SVG. The Dollar Tree floral bowls come in three sizes. Once you have decided which size bowl you want you can measure and resize the SVG to fit. I used the medium bowls and resized the SVG so that it measured 3.5″ x 3.643″
Step 5: Cut the SVG
Again using Design Space and your Cricut cut out the SVG. To do this, place the vinyl on the green mat. Click Make in the upper right corner of Design Space. Once you have clicked Make follow the instructions to cut out the SVG.
Step 6: Weed the Cut Out
Using your Cricut weeding tool weed out the excess vinyl leaving the just the face.
Step 7: Place the Image
Attach transfer tape to the face image. Transfer the image to the top bowl and burnish in place. Repeat this process for the eye inserts.
Step 8: Glue the Bowls
Place the bowl with the face on top of the second bowl. Glue the bowls together using hot glue and e6000.
Step 9: Attach Legs
Using e6000 and hot glue attach the leg ornament to the bottom bowl.
Step 10: Add the Boa
Cut the boa so that it fits on the rim of the top bowl. Using hot glue and e6000 glue it to the rim of the top bowl.
Step 11: Add the Santa Hat
I purchased a Dollar Tree hat and cut it down to fit. I did it by cutting it in half lengthwise. Once it was cut in half I wrapped it around the top bowl to get the right fit. Once that was done I cut it and stitched it on my sewing machine. You can hot glue it if you want. I added a bit of fiberfill to fill out the hat.
Step 10: Add the Scarf
Cut down the scarf and wrap it around the join between the two bowls. Secure with hot glue if you like.
